On Sunday, March 30, Ballet Theatre of Maryland will dive into our 46th Anniversary Gala at the Annapolis Maritime Museum. It's an opportunity to enjoy delicious food from Santoni's, watch an exclusive dance performance, and learn about our new Nutcracker! With a nod to our upcoming production of Swan Lake, we invite guests to attend in black and white semi-formal attire. Read on to learn more!
Visit the Annapolis Maritime Museum

This waterfront museum has a gorgeous view of Back Creek and the Chesapeake Bay. There's something so beautiful about Chesapeake culture and the qualities that make Annapolis special, and we're happy to celebrate that.
BTM's office manager, Jenna Fritts, is thrilled to incorporate the Annapolis Maritime Museum into the company's gala celebration. She says,
"I feel that just about everyone knows the Annapolis Maritime Museum. It is such a historic landmark, so I am honored that we are celebrating our 46th year there. Its cultural significance makes it the perfect venue to highlight the importance of cultivating the arts in Annapolis."
Watch an Intimate Performance

The evening will include an exclusive performance by dancers of BTM. At past galas, the chosen works have often provided a sneak peek into our upcoming performances or snippets of works we rarely have the opportunity to perform. Keep your eyes peeled for a glimpse of Swan Lake, our new Annapolis Nutcracker, or top-secret repertory from next season!

Learn about Annapolis's New Nutcracker

Have you heard about BTM's new production of The Nutcracker? The company has been working hard to create a fresh take on this holiday classic, and we are excited to share more about the production.
With its debut in December 2025, this production takes inspiration from Annapolis landmarks and events for a unique turn on a beloved story. Clara's Nutcracker doll becomes a family heirloom dating back to the War of 1812, and the fight between the Nutcracker and the wicked Rat King becomes an exciting naval battle in the Annapolis harbor. Join us at the gala to learn more!
Mix and Mingle with the Dancers: Can You Find Odile?

As guests enjoy food from Santoni's and activities such as a silent raffle, they also have the unique opportunity to mix and mingle with the dancers of BTM. We love getting to know our patrons better, and we have so much to share about everything we do--not just participating in ballet classes and rehearsals, but also constructing sets and costumes, running outreach programs in the community, teaching our academy students, and more!

Mingling with the company comes with a special twist during an interactive portion of this year's gala. Certain dancers will be undercover as Odile, the evil swan who seduces the prince in Act III of Swan Lake. Guests who deduce if a dancer is Odile will be eligible to win special prizes at the event!
Jenna says: "Thankfully unlike Swan Lake, the evening won't end in chaos from committing one's undying love to an imposter but rather a good time with good food, drinks, company, and excitement for all that BTM has planned for next season and beyond."
We hope to see you there! Visit our Elegance on the Water page for more information. There are still a few days left to unlock special benefits as a sponsor for the event.
