The company is back in session! Although we're excited to be back in the studio, the summer doesn't feel that long ago. Our last blog post talked about how just a few of the dancers occupied themselves this summer, but many company members had some fun adventures. What did summer mean to you as a kid? Maybe backyard barbeques, long pool days, or family road trips. While the summer probably evokes similar images for our dance students, they may have other experiences in mind: moving into a dorm, dancing all day, trying new styles of dance, and sewing yet another pair of pointe shoes. That's right: for the last couple of months, it's been summer intensive time.

Even though our summer intensive is over, school is still in session here on the blog! In our last post, we followed the development of classical ballet productions from La Sylphide to Coppélia. Today, we take a look from the start of the Classical Period, through 20th-century and neoclassical ballet, all the way into today's contemporary ballet. It's not an exhaustive list, but you'll recognize familiar works such as The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, and more!
