Artistic Director Nicole Kelsch’s fresh take on a classic returns this season in The Nutcracker. As always, this magical holiday tradition is filled with exuberant dance, beloved characters, and timeless music that delights audiences of all ages—now with an Annapolis twist!
Infused with historical detail and regional charm, BTM’s Nutcracker transports audiences to 19th-century Annapolis. Clara’s nutcracker isn’t just any gift: this German nutcracker doll is now an heirloom steeped in family history. From the exciting naval battle between the Nutcracker and the Rat King to delicate crabs and oysters that welcome Clara into the glittering Kingdom of Confections, this production is locally resonant and perfect for the whole family.
Audiences love the shimmering snowfall in the Kingdom of Snowflakes and the colorful confections—Caramel, Popcorn, Peppermint, and more—that dance to Clara’s delight. Join us for a Nutcracker that celebrates the childlike wonder that we carry with us year after year.
