Lauren Martinez

Principal

Lauren Martinez began her ballet training in Houston, Texas, and furthered her training at the University of Oklahoma, where she obtained a dual degree in Ballet Performance and Advertising. Lauren has performed as a guest artist with Tulsa Ballet and Unbound Ballet Project, has worked with renowned choreographers including Trey McIntyre, Ilya Kozadayev, and Dominic Walsh, and has performed lead roles in George Balanchine's Concerto Barocco and Alejandro Cerrudo's Lickety Split.


In 2019, Lauren joined the Ballet Theatre of Maryland as an Apprentice, was promoted to Demi-Soloist in 2020, and to Principal in the fall of 2021. While at BTM, Lauren has performed leading roles such as the title role in Giselle, Clara (Dianna Cuatto's The Nutcracker), Kitri (Don Quixote), Aurora (The Sleeping Beauty), Teresina (Napoli), and featured roles in Les Sylphides, Swan Lake, Edward Stewart's Dracula, Keith Lee's Hijinks and Lullabies, and Dianna Cuatto's American Ballads and The Little Mermaid.
