Julia Walden

Demi-Soloist

Julia Walden grew up in Apex, North Carolina where she began dancing at the age of three at Infinity Ballet Conservatory under the direction of Debra Sayles Senchak. There, Julia trained extensively in ballet and contemporary dance. She performed many roles such as Cinderella, Princess Florine in The Sleeping Beauty, and the Sugar Plum Fairy and Dew Drop Fairy in The Nutcracker. Julia attended summer intensive programs at American Ballet Theatre, Carolina Ballet, Richmond Ballet, and Sarasota Ballet. She spent two seasons completing the trainee program with the Sarasota Ballet, where she performed many classical and neoclassical works. 


Julia joined Ballet Theatre of Maryland as an Apprentice in 2022. She was promoted to the Corps de Ballet in 2023 and to Demi-Soloist in 2024. With the company, Julia has performed many roles such as the Crystal Fountain Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty, soloist couple dancer in Dianna Cuatto’s Italian Symphonette, lead Naiad In Napoli, a Big Swan in Swan Lake, lead Mirliton in Dianna Cuatto’s The Nutcracker, and lead couple in Hannah Hanson’s What Once Was. As a guest artist for ballet schools, Julia has also performed Swanhilda in an excerpt from CoppéliaFlower Festival in Genzano, and The Sylph in La Sylphide.
