Diego Sosa

Principal

Diego Sosa is a professional dancer hailing from Asuncion, Paraguay. He began his ballet training in his hometown before earning a scholarship at the renowned Washington School of Ballet. Diego further honed his skills through intensive training with esteemed dancers and teachers in the United States, Brazil, Italy, Spain, and France.

Diego's professional career took off when he performed with the Municipal Ballet of Asuncion for three years. He later became a Soloist dancer at the Ballet de la Universidad del Norte, where he captivated audiences for a decade in prestigious roles including Carmen, Coppelia, Don Quixote, Giselle, The Four Seasons, La Bayadere, Le Corsaire, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and The Nutcracker.


In 2015, Diego joined the Ballet Theatre of Maryland as a Soloist and was promoted to Principal dancer the following year. With the company, he showcased his exceptional talent as the Bluebird in Sleeping Beauty, the White Knight in Alice in Wonderland, King Lot in Excalibur, the Nutcracker Prince in The Nutcracker, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, and Aladdin in Cuatto's Aladdin, among other notable roles.


Diego's artistry extends beyond classical ballet. As a resident guest artist with the Kintz-Mejia Academy of Ballet, he has performed leading roles in The Nutcracker, The Little Mermaid, Giselle Pas de Deux, Don Quijote Pas de Deux, The Corsaire Pas de Deux, Raymonda Grand Pas Classique, Diana & Acteon Pas de Deux, Spring Water Pas de Deux, Black Swan Pas de Deux, and more.


In addition to his performing career, Diego has been a dedicated teacher at The Falls Church School of Ballet since 2018, sharing his expertise and nurturing the next generation of dancers. He has also made significant contributions to Moveius Contemporary Ballet from 2015 to 2023, showcasing his versatility and artistic range.


Diego Sosa's extraordinary talent, extensive training, and passion for dance have solidified his place as a respected and accomplished professional dancer. As he embarks on this new chapter with the Ballet Theatre of Maryland, Diego is poised to continue pushing his artistic boundaries, inspiring audiences worldwide, and sharing his passion for dance with the world.
