Mark Andrew McCormack was born in Scotland and raised in Australia. He began his early dance training at the Brisbane Academy of Dance in Queensland, Australia. At 16 he was accepted on scholarship to the Queensland Dance School of Excellence at the Queensland Ballet under the direction of Angus Lugsdin. Mark then received a scholarship at the Australian National Theatre Ballet School under the directorship of Beverly Jane Fry and obtained his Diploma of Arts majoring in Classical Ballet. While studying Mark was given permission to perform in the professional musical productions of Dad’s Army with the Twelfth Night Theatre Company and My Fair Lady with ACT Production Company.
Mark began his international dance career in 2007 when he joined Cinevox Dance Company in Switzerland. Since then he has worked with Atlantic City Ballet (New Jersey), Double Take Dance (Manhattan), Galveston Ballet (Texas), Montgomery Ballet (Alabama), and Alabama Dance Theatre (Alabama). He has performed a vast selection of classical and contemporary roles in many productions including; Le Scare Du Printemps, Don Quixote, Dracula, Le Patineurs, Giselle, Cinderella, La Fille Mal Gardee, The Sleeping Beauty, Phantom of the Opera, Peter and the Wolf, Carnival of the Animals, Les Sylphide, Paquita, Concerto Vivaldi, Macbeth, Excalibur, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Swan Lake, Snow White, and The Nutcracker. This is Mark's seventh season with the Ballet Theatre of Maryland and the Ballet Theatre of Maryland’s Conservatory of Dance.
After 15 years of a long and successful dance career, Marcus will take his final bow on the stage Saturday, April 23 at 1:00 P.M. in the BTM production Coppélia.
