Sarah Gilliam began her training in Roanoke, Virginia under Terri Post and Pedro Szalay. In 2007, she was accepted to attend Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts where she continued her training until she graduated in 2010. During her time at Nutmeg, Sarah spent her summers training with Virginia School of the Arts, Richmond Ballet, and Orlando Ballet. Sarah first joined Ballet Theatre of Maryland in 2010 as an Apprentice, was promoted to Demi-Soloist in 2012, to Soloist in 2016, and Principal in 2017. Since joining BTM, Sarah has been featured in various roles including Dew Drop, Arabian, and Gypsy Doll in The Nutcracker, Lady of the Lake in Excalibur, Melinda in Beauty and the Beast, Prayer in Coppelia, and Lady Legia in Masterpieces of Edgar Allen Poe.
