Madelyn Nelson is a native to Lexington, Kentucky. At the age of nine she began her classical training at the Lexington Ballet School under the direction of Luis and Nancy Dominguez. She went on to join the company in 2012 performing in Coppelia, Cinderella, and Firebird, along with various contemporary works. Madelyn furthered her training at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music studying under Qi Jiang and Deirdre Carberry. During her time at CCM, Madelyn performed in the corps of ballets such as Serenade, and La Bayadere, and as a principal in Raymonda, Le Corsaire, Swan Lake, and many contemporary works including Icono Glass by David Hochoy. Upon graduating from CCM and receiving a BFA in Ballet Performance, Madelyn joined Louisville Ballet as a trainee in 2016. With Louisville Ballet, Madelyn performed in Balanchine’s Theme and Variation, Robert Curran’s Swan Lake, and The Sleeping Beauty. Madelyn is very excited to begin her first season at Ballet Theatre of Maryland as a Demi-Soloist.
